Availability of support services @MQU
Author - Naveen Batuwitaarachchi
As most of the students are international students who are in an unfamiliar country, the Uni provides a range of helping services to make them more comfortable to live in an alien country. Some of these services include Pals, Studiosity, Studywise, Finance Services and the Mentors Program.
Pals( Peer Assisted Learning )
For most of the students who are finding it hard to cope up with a particular unit, Pals have been the most helpful in terms of support in studies. The Pal sessions are normally conducted from week 2 of the start until the end of the semester. It is normally conducted by pervious students who passed with a D or HD in the unit. It helps you with the unit as the Pal teachers have knowledge on how to study and write notes for the finals.
Mentors Programs
I myself being an international student have found the mentor program really helpful. When I first came to Australia, I was very shy to talk to people. However, the mentors helped me find friends through various activities that they held in the University. Afterwards I myself became a mentor to help people like me.
There are many more services that you can find in the Uni for different circumstances. These support services have guided me through Uni. Hope these guide you too.
Thats all for now. Hope you guys enjoyed the blog. Stay tuned with us for more amazing posts. Don't forget to follow us on twitter @isys100mon4pmg1.
